Plan ahead for Skills Levies claims in 2014

Before you know it, it will be that time of the year again when the training calendar comes to an end and you need to submit your Annual Training Reports (ATR) and Workplace Skills Plans (WSP) in order to claim back your Skills Levies.

There have been a few changes from the SETA’s, with regards to legislation and the grants.  They are now also implementing Pivotal Grants from 2014.  Once we receive your training records we can assess whether you might qualify for a Pivotal Grant and can send you the necessary forms to complete and submit.  This year is the last year that we submit before 30 June, from 2014 the submission date will be 30 April.  If you have more than 50 employees, you need to have a Training Committee meeting to discuss the pivotal Grants and also complete the Attendance Registers.  These documents also have to be submitted with your ATR/WSP.  Please contact us if you need assistance with these meetings.

Furthermore, we would like to bring it to your attention that there have been a few changes regarding Employment Equity Planning and Reporting.  Department of Labour are doing audits to check and ensure that barriers in your EE plans have been identified and addressed, i.e.“Review of Policies, Practices and Working Conditions, (i.e. reasonable accommodation, training and development strategies, recruitment, selection, corporate culture, etc) , Dispute Resolution, Performance Reviews, etc.

It is imperative to understand WHY and HOW your BBBEE scorecard, Employment Equity Plan and Workplace Skills Plan (WSP) should be in sync with one another.  These three (3) documents should be synergised to ensure sustainable growth and development of your  employees, your business and your bottom-line… all three (3) important characteristics of a learning organisation.

If you need any assistance in this regards, or need more information please feel free to contact me at cornelia@future-ent.com.
